Un jet privé biréacteur, avec 8 personnes à bord, s'est écrasé près de l'aéroport de Owatonna, une ville du sud de l'état du Minnesota située à une centaine de kilomètres au sud de Minneapolis. L'appareil venait d'Atlantic City ( New Jersey) ;selon les media locaux, l'accident aurait provoqué la mort d'au moins sept personnes.

L'appareil serait un Hawker 125. Les conditions météorologiques, très défavorables, seraient à l'origine du crash.

A small plane crashed shortly after 9:30 this morning at Owatonna Degner Regional Airport in southern Minnesota while trying to land, killing at least seven and possibly nine people, said a Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman.
One person on board the flight was taken to Owatonna Hospital, and was listed in critical condition as of 11:40 a.m., said Debra Brase, a marketing and communications manager for the hospital.
Elizabeth Isham Cory said the plane that crashed is a Hawker 125 and it was coming from Atlantic City, N.J.
Stormy weather was moving through southern Minnesota at the time, with high winds.
The passengers were customers of the Viracon glass manufacturing company in Owatonna. A Viracon spokeswoman said seven people flying into Owatonna for a meeting today at the glass company, along with two pilots.
Don Pyatt, president of Viracon, told the Owatonna People's Press that the customers were from "a couple of different companies" coming to the plant to discuss a project in Las Vegas.
Chad Garteski, general manager of Cabella's, said late this morning, "There are definitely search and rescue vehicles in a field west of the airport." He said firetrucks were in a cornfield.
An employee at Rare Aircraft Ltd. said the plane crashed west of the airport.
Quinn Johnson, assistant manager at the Happy Chef, said she was outside the restaurant's back door around 9:40 a.m. when she heard a loud noise coming from the direction of the airport that lasted about 25 seconds.
"It was right when the storm was passing over, and I heard a really loud noise," she said. "I even looked to see if it was a tornado."
The restaurant is 2 miles south of the airport.
The crash came as thunderstorms moved across the region, knocking out power lines, snapping trees and damaging agricultural buildings. |

The plane was operated by a charter firm called East Coast Jets Inc. A person who answered the phone at the company declined to comment.
The airport's Web site describes it as "ideal for all classes of corporate aircraft" with an all-weather instrument landing system. "Maintaining access to Owatonna's business community in all weather conditions is a priority," the site says. |

| Le nombre de victimes est passé à huit, l'un des blessés ayant malheureusement succombé à ses blessures à l'hôpital, selon une info toujours de Associated Press et relayée par plusieurs médias américains... |

| le design (anglais) du Hawker Siddeley (compagnie historique british devenue ensuite BAe) HS125 des années 70 a donné naissance après reprise par les US de la chaine au Raytheon Hawker 800 ... c'est le même avion sous un autre nom, avec une évolution moteur et avionique... |
